Back in 2023, I did one of these posts to list the books I hoped to read in 2023. I thought it would be fun to look back on my TBR list for 2023 and tick off the books I have read, whilst also listing the books I plan to read this year in 2025!
Since 2023, I have definitely made reading a priority. I upped my Goodreads reading challenge from 10 books a year to 30 and I have been hitting that goal so far. I also invested in a Kindle which has changed the way I read as I can read multiple books on the go whilst travelling. Something else I did was to install an app on my phone that blocks my social media for certain hours of the day to make sure I read before bed rather than scroll.
After my English Literature degree, I lost the desire to read as it had slowly become a chore over those three years. Especially as we had to read a lot of books that I just simply didn’t enjoy. But now that I have chosen to enjoy and dedicate time to reading over the past few years, I have found my love again for it.
My TBR List for 2023- an update
So here is my TBR list from 2023 and how I’ve done:
1. Brexit Romance by Clémentine Beauvais (French)     READ
2. Le Rouge et le Noir by Stendhal (French)             READ
3. Zazie dans le métro by Raymond Queneau (French)    READ
4. Beloved by Toni Morrison (English)                  READ
5. Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison (English)             READ
6. This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald (English)  NOT READ
7. Becoming by Michelle Obama (English)              READ
8. The Portrait of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (English) READ
9. Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (English)   NOT READ
10. A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking (English)  READ
All in all, I think that’s pretty good! Just two books I haven’t read. I did start Half of a Yellow Sun, but haven’t got round to finishing it yet which is why I didn’t count it as read. Now on to 2025!
My TBR List for 2025
My goal for this year is to read 30 books and I have already read 7. I equally am currently reading 3 books, which I will include in this list as I hope to finish them shortly. But these will be my top 10 reads for 2025 and hopefully I will be able to do an update for this list in December.
