Do your pupils love Easter Eggs? Do they need help with their numbers in English? Then they might love this Easter Egg English Numbers Magic Colouring that I designed!
Just like my magic colouring for English Nouns, the next one in the set is to do with numbers in English. I decided to make worksheets around numbers and maths in English as counting in a foreign language always ends up being quite tricky. We tend to instinctively use our native language whenever we count no matter how many languages we speak.
So in order to better help my pupils, I made this fun magic colouring.
How it works
This worksheet works in exactly the same way as my other Easter Egg worksheets, such as this one that I posted about on the blog.
In order to colour in the egg, pupils must calculate the basic addition and subtraction sums. The answer they get then corresponds to a colour that is included in the key.
The extra challenge is that all of the numbers in the egg are written out in word form. So pupils have to recognise the numbers from their written form first before they can calculate the answer. The numbers in the key, however, are written normally as numbers. Pupils therefore need to associate the word they have in English for the number with the number symbol in order to use the write colour.
At the end of the activity, all pupils should have coloured in their eggs the same way. This means that they have a built-in self correction as they can easily see if there are any mistakes.
Once the activity is complete, it could be fun for the pupils to hang their coloured eggs around the classroom. Or they could cut the eggs out from the worksheet and decorate the front of their books with them.
Learning English is definitely much easier when it’s fun! My aim is to help my pupils learn English in the most interactive and exciting way possible.
