I’m back with another variation of my Easter egg magic colouring series! This time it’s Easter Egg English Word Categories. Something I say a lot on my blog is that I want to make learning English grammar fun. If that’s something you hope to do too, then your pupils might enjoy learning some grammar with this magic colouring.
It can often be tricky for pupils to identify the different parts of a sentence. Especially when they first learn about nouns, verbs, adjectives etc.
So I wanted to make this fun Easter-themed colouring to help them practice.
How it works
This magic colouring works the same as the others in the series. However, this time they have to identify the parts of a sentence.
In order to colour in the egg, pupils must decide if the word in the space is a noun, verb, adjective, or adverb. They then follow the key to colour it in the right colour.
Just like my other Easter egg worksheets, all pupils should have the same coloured egg at the end. If they don’t, then they can self-correct by identifying which parts they have coloured in wrong.
This type of activity is a really great way for pupils to practice and consolidate what they’ve learnt about English grammar whilst having fun. Plus, colouring is accessible for pupils of all ages so even more advanced pupils can do this colouring as a gap fill activity.
Once all of the pupils have coloured in their eggs, they could be displayed around the classroom on the walls or even the classroom door! Pupils could also cut out their egg and stick it onto or in their exercise book.
Let me know in the comments if you have any other tricks to making grammar fun.
If you try out this activity, I’d really love to hear your feedback!
