“It’s tiiiiiime!” As Mariah Carey would say. Christmas is fast approaching and it can often be hard to think of good present ideas for yourself and for loved ones. So here are 25 Christmas Wishlist Ideas for 2024!
I’ve tried to include things that will suit all budgets as well as ideas for a wide range of people.
1. A nice hand cream
With the weather getting colder, a nice hand cream is definitely becoming an everyday essential! There are a wide range available, from scented and floral to thick and unscented. Perfect for everyone!
2. New hat/gloves/scarf
I feel like hats, gloves, and scarves are always very much appreciated as gifts. Whether you decide to hand make them or buy them, they are a great option for people of all ages!
3. Tickets for a concert, a show, the cinema, a performance etc
This idea is very budget-dependent as for some shows, ticket prices are insanely expensive. But, there usually is a range of cinema showings or performances that offer relatively cheap tickets. This is a great gift for someone who loves music, films, or shows and will be something they can remember for a long time.
4. Money for a holiday
As with the previous idea, this one is also more budget-dependent. However, any travel addict would be happy with even the smallest contribution to their travels!
5. A warm blanket
With temperatures dropping and heating prices increasing, a nice warm blanket is much-needed to keep the cold at bay! If you are an avid knitter or crocheter you could even try making one.
6. Perfume
There are many perfume, or aftershave, options to choose from so why not buy your loved one a top up bottle of their favourite one! Alternatively, you could give them a new perfume to try and surprise them with a new scent.
7. A scrapbook or a journal
This idea can be given in two different ways. Either give your loved one an empty scrapbook or journal so they can fill it up with memories throughout the year. Or, you can fill the scrapbook or journal yourself with photos and memories of things you’ve done together!
8. A nice candle
Everyone likes a beautiful candle to infuse their home. Whether a classic Yankee-style candle or a more unusually shaped and scented one, it is a must-have for all homes at Christmas.
9. A massage or self care treatment
Another budget-dependent idea, but why not offer your loved one a massage session or a self care treatment such as a facial, nail appointment, or haircut. This is a great way of encouraging those around you to look after themselves and treat themselves after a busy year!
10. A colouring book and pens
Adult colouring books are becoming more and more popular so this is a great gift option for those who need to unwind. You don’t even have to splash out on expensive pens and books- the cheaper ones do exactly the same thing!
11. A restaurant gift voucher
If you know someone who is a big foodie, you could treat them to a restaurant gift voucher so that they can go and enjoy their favourite meal. There are usually many options to choose from and you can tailor it to your budget.
12. New plants for the home or garden
Indoor and outdoor plants are always great gifts to give, especially those that last a long time. They look pretty, they give the person something to look after, and they are also a really lovely addition to any home or garden!
13. A framed photo
Why not give your loved one a framed photo for Christmas as a way to remind them that they’re loved and appreciated. This is an idea that you can DIY at home or buy from a shop and you can really personalise it to the person you’re giving it to.
14. Personalised jewellery
This idea is a particular favourite of mine. Whether you choose to engrave a name or word, or you customise with their birth stone, personalised jewellery is always treasured. You can get your loved one something really meaningful that they can wear on them all day every day. Sometimes personalised jewellery can be on the expensive side, but there are more and more budget-friendly options out there.
15. Starter kits for a new hobby
If you have a loved one that is in need of a hobby, why not buy them a starter kit! Whether it’s for crochet, pottery, drawing, or wood making, there are tons of beginner kits available.
16. A personalised Spotify or Apple Music playlist
This idea is a fun and essentially completely free one! For Christmas, you could treat your loved one to a personalised Spotify/Apple Music/other playlist with all of their favourite songs.
17. A handmade craft item
If you are an arts and crafts person, you could hand make your loved ones a gift! It could be a knitted hat, a wooden Christmas ornament, or a portrait painting of the family. The possibilities are endless!
18. Matching jumpers or pyjamas
This is a fun idea that can be adapted to all friends and families. Why not buy your loved one(s) matching jumpers/pyjamas/hats/socks etc! This would make for a great Christmas family/friend photo and you’ll have fun memories afterwards.
19. A good book
Reading is an excellent hobby and pastime that people of all ages can enjoy. Giving someone a good book, either by their favourite author or a new read, is a great gift idea that many love.
20. A Lego or construction kit
There are more and more construction-type kits that are being created now and you can get some really amazing ones! You could challenge your loved one to recreate the Eiffel Tower in Lego or get them a project such as a wooden book nook that they can learn how to make.
21. A new cookbook or recipe book
Whilst the internet and AI are becoming more popular for looking up recipes, a good cookbook is something that can be kept for a lifetime. You could either buy one or make your own with treasured family recipes!
22. A nice pen or stationary set
Everyone loves a nice pen or a nice notebook. This is an idea that can be very budget-friendly as you can choose how much to spend.
23. A handmade card
Whether it’s handmade by yourself or by your kids, a handmade card is always deeply appreciated by your loved ones. This can be a completely free idea or you can spend money on different resources for your cards. Either way, there’s nothing more like telling someone they’re loved than with a handmade card.
24. Handprint art
This idea is particularly great if you have babies or children in your life. You can create all sorts of wonderful art and ornament ideas simply by using their fingers, hands, or feet! This is a particularly nice gift for new parents or grandparents.
25. Homemade baked goods
If you love cooking or baking, why not treat your family and friends to some of your baked goods this Christmas. You could host Christmas dinner if you’re feeling up for a challenge or you could simply bake a really nice batch of cupcakes. Everyone loves good food at Christmas!
Often the best thing about Christmas, or the holidays in general, is simply being able to spend quality time with family and friends. We tend to remember moments with people we love more than gifts. So as times are particularly tough at the moment, the best gift you could give to the people around you is yourself!
I hope this wish list gave you some ideas for either yourself or the people around you.
